Spring/Summer 2008

Back to Brink Home page

Dear Friends,

It has been some time since we chatted and I hope you are happy, healthy and well.  When do you suppose we will have spring??? That seems to be the big question these days.  Everyone is so ready to get out in their yards and flower gardens, but the weather has been changing all good plans.  My heart goes out to the farmers as the days go by and they still cannot get into their wet fields.  Soon we will be wishing for some cooler days when the humidity per cent is as high as the temperature in degrees.

Have you noticed how yellow the little goldfinches are getting?  We have a lot of them at our bird feeders and they are such fun to watch.  Our bird bath must be cleaned frequently as the robins are building their nests and bathing many times a day.

Come see the cute ceramic and resin birds on display.  They will liven up any room and add such interest to a sofa table or shelf that needs a spring pick-me-up.

We went to Branson, MO over a weekend and the red bud was just lovely tucked in among the bare trees in the hollows.  We saw a very good show of Penny Gilley at the RFD-TV theater.  Good, wholesome entertainment is such an enjoyable thing now days and Branson has so many fine shows to offer.

Have you been to our shop lately? Many new home décor items and gift items on display as well as the different variety of plants and fresh flowers we have to offer.  Sweetheart roses, just $12 for a dozen arranged in a vase is our current promotion …what a deal!!!!

Jewelry for every occasion is among the many things we brought back from market last month.  Bracelets, necklaces and earrings are great gift ideas.  We have a lot of different colors and styles displayed just as you come in our front door.

I am so excited about the furniture that has just arrived, you will want to come see for yourself.  I’m not going to tell you about it so it will be a surprise when you stop by.

We have received a new shipment of pictures and they are grand!  This shipment has many different types, colors and sizes of lovely art pieces to decorate your home. One of these pictures found its way to our home too.  We have new mirrors and metal wall pieces to add interest to your walls also.

An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo.  Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws.  “You’ve got so many freckles, there’s no place to paint!” a girl in the line said to the little fella.

Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head.  His grandmother knelt down next to him.  “I love your freckles.  When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles,” she said, while tracing her finger across the child’s cheek.  “Freckles are beautiful.”

The boy looked up,  “Really?”

“Of course,” said the grandmother.  “Why, just name me one thing that’s prettier than freckles.”

The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma’s face, and softly whispered, “Wrinkles.”

Just to remind you, we have a full line of Willowtree angels and statues by Demdaco.  There are some really nice new pieces this spring.  We also carry the Haley Max statues which are more contemporary, but carry a similar message as Demdaco.

Our reed diffusers have been so popular this year.  They are by the Woodwick candle company and come in many lovely fragrances.  And, our Woodwick candles make a great shower gift or house warming gift.  We gift wrap free also.

If you are looking for inspirational pieces, our shop carries stepping stones, table pieces and many wall plaques and crosses, perfect for different needs.
